About Detroit Chapter - Settles Family Clan
There were a great number of descendants of Phillip and Nancy Settles living in the Detroit area that did not know each other. The thought of bringing them together occurred to Carrie Bussey on Christmas morning of 1975. She mentioned this to her sister, Ella Ruth Hamilton, and they in turn decided to do something to bring the family together.

In March of 1976 Ella Ruth invited the relatives that she knew to her home for an evening of socializing and from this gathering came the organizing of the Settles Family Reunion Clan.

Our Family "Roots" not only go deep into the soil, but our "Branches" have taken pride in achieving and contributing new goals and aspirations that will continue to make the "Settles" name synonymous with dignity, pride, and prosperity.
